Awesome article! This could guide a lot of people find out about this issue. Are you keen to integrate video clips together with these? It would absolutely help. Your reason was spot on and because of you; I will not have to explain everything to my friends. I could just direct them in this article!

Eric,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I am happy to help in any way I can. I have seen the problem you mention on one Samsung DLP.
I've been selling Samsung DLP's for most of the last 7 years and I want to assure you that you have one of the best TV's of this type. Before I can accurately recommend a solution, though, I have a few questions.

1. Does this problem occur with all video sources?

2. If it doesn't then which one?

3. How do you have the offending source connected to the TV? Meaning what type(composite video, component video, S-video or HDMI), brand and quality of cable and is the source connected directly to the TV or is it connected through an A/V receiver.

4. Does the problem occur on all "inputs" of the TV or just one or two? In other words video 1, video 2, etc.

5. Please let me know the details of your setup, i.e. which components are you using in the chain that manifests the problem. Exact brand and model numbers would be helpful.

6. How long has the problem been occuring and how old is the TV (model number will tell me).

7. Did anything strange or unusual happen just before this problem showed up? E.G.- did you move the TV, move or stress the cables, etc.

8. Have you ever had the TV calibrated by an ISF calibrator or have you attempted to calibrate it yourself?

The answers to these questions will allow me to give you some suggestions as to what might be causing the problem and how to solve it. I will also be able to guess how much fixing the problem will cost.

I have a suspicion and if I'm right, it may not cost you anything to fix it.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

What about shading with DLPs? I have a Samsung 56" that is 3 yrs old. The primary problem is with whites but not exclusive with this color. I have a problem where it pixilates or shading is not clean. It is not a clear clean looking picture. I just need to know whether this can be cheaply or not.

thanks
